But the sale of Celtic does not mean Royal AM will drop their case which is set for arbitration. Royal, Sekhukhune and the PSL have been embroiled in a legal battle since the end of last season.Sekhukhune were awarded three points from an arbitration overseen by advocate Hilton Epstein SC. They were handed the points from a January match against Polokwane City after the latter were found to have breached the regulations.
Royal ended the season on top of the table but the three points awarded to Sekhukhune saw them leap-frog them. “The legal matter was not instigated by the league. It was a principle issue that was raised by Polokwane City. We got involved only as respondents. Royal AM then intervened to be co-applicants in the matter,” Khoza said.“The matter had an impact on who should be promoted. It was not due to any omission from the [PSL] executive committee. We were just invited to the party to participate as respondents.
“We also got involved on the basis of the arbitration ruling that said the PSL rules are silent on the issue of a sanction. We disagreed and said no, the rules are not silent.”Gomolemo Motshwane
