The Easterns Baseball Federation hosted a JENS Baseball Tournament at the Boksburg Stadium’s Cardinals Baseball Club from November 26-27.

The tournament was held to select players that will be part of the Gauteng Province Baseball Council’s divisional teams that will be competing in the National Baseball Championship.According to the president of Easterns Baseball Federation, Gavin Bennett, this is the first phase of the selection. Groups of 12-15 players were selected for the final phase during which players will be permanently selected.

“The next stage for the players we picked is for them to train together from January to early February and in the middle of February, all the players will be divided into A and B teams. “Players from different regional leagues compete for selection in the JENS Tournament. The J in the JENS abbreviation stands for Johannesburg Baseball Federation, ‘E’ for Easterns Baseball Federation and ‘N’ for Northerns Baseball Federation, and ‘S’ for South West Gauteng Federation,” said Bennet.
