In an in-studio interview at Randburg-based pay-to-tv news channel Newzroom Afrika on Wednesday, the three-time CAF Champions League winning coach, Pitso Mosimane, revealed that his mandate was to lead Al Wahda to a first league title in 13 years

“There is this big team that has not won the league since 2010. It is a lot of years for a big team,” said Mosimane of the club that finished third in the previous campaign, five points behind champions Shabab Al Ahli, in the 14-club league.

They have been finishing second, third and fourth. The mandate is, can you try and win the league here? I said alright let us try and win the league. Let’s see. Let us move it from third to first. Last week, Mosimane announced his departure from Saudi Arabia side Al Ahli after steering them back to the Saudi Pro League. During the media launch of his Pitso Mosimane Soccer School on Saturday, Mosimane told the media that he was ready to take on a new adventure. Mosimane played his cards close to his chest, sending journalists imaginations wild with a hint here and there.
