Pirates were supposed to host LPRC Oilers on Sunday at Orlando Stadium, with a 2-0 lead from the first leg, but the game has been called off.
“Kindly note that we have been informed of the withdrawal of LPRC Oilers from the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup this season,” Pirates said in a statement on Friday.On Thursday night, CAF also issued a statement regarding Oilers’ withdrawal.CAF has received a letter from the Liberia Football Association confirming the withdrawal of LPRC Oilers from the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup this season.
“Consequently, this weekend’s scheduled fixture between Orlando Pirates and LPRC Oilers has been cancelled in accordance with the regulations of the competition.”Meanwhile, Marumo Gallants will be hoping to join Pirates in the continental competition when they host Congolese powerhouse TP Mazembe at old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday. Gallants are trailing 1-0 from the first leg and need to score more if they are to advance to the group stage, which will begin in February.
