Community leaders from Inanda and Phoenix told TheMercurySA that it would take years for the two neighbouring communities to live together in peace.

DURBAN - THE death toll from last week’s unrest and looting in KwaZulu-Natal and parts of Gauteng has risen to 337 as the authorities continue to count the cost.

Community leaders from Inanda and Phoenix told The Mercury yesterday that it would take years for the two neighbouring communities to live together in peace. Leaders of the two communities, which are separated by a main road, said the recent racial tension was concerning as more than 22 people had died, and more than 20 vehicles had been torched during the violence.

“Since Monday last week, I haven’t been able to eat, sleep or even stand for too long. I’m lucky to be alive. We were not going to loot their homes. We were just passing by to get to Cornubia Mall. I’m still angry,” he said. “His death has hit the family hard as he was a breadwinner. Since when are there places in this country where we can’t go just because we are black? My brother was killed only because he was black.”

Till date, Ethans_Rolands has been a great inspiration to me and my family. For a start I deposited $2000 and after a week I got $11,500 return. This soul Ethans_Rolands his accuracy and reliability can't be compromised. Shame poor looters, so whose fault is it then...? They want to shut down all our taps now 🤔🤔

ANC in KZN asks police to investigate motorcade and 'Black Friday' protestThe ANC in KwaZulu-Natal has approached the police to investigate how its logo came to be on posters announcing a motorcade and march, in support of the release of former president Jacob Zuma and and protests against 'racist attacks' in Phoenix. Anc in KZN is confused as a 'Chameleon in a bag of skittles' They've been jusfying this madness, now it takes a dimension they did not expect, they play surprise surprise, and run to the police. They are foolish or pretending. Sun1 will receive a letter of suspension soon🤣 Can I therefore understand this to be saying, MYANC of the KZN doesn't give a damn about the incarceration of PresJGZuma? Do they need DEPUTATION strategies, which could take more than 15 months to resolve this Detention without TRIAL issue?
