Premier Alan Winde’s push for the Western Cape to move to level3 of the lockdown, together with a hotspot plan, has been criticised by opposition parties and civil society. TheCapeArgus lockdown

Winde said: “With our health-care system prepared, it is simply no longer possible to maintain level 4 restrictions anywhere in South Africa.

But the ANC's Cameron Dugmore said: “The premier’s call is reckless and is clearly driven by a DA agenda, an agenda of exceptionalism which places economic recovery at the expense of people’s lives.” The Good Party's Brett Herron added: “We would all love to move to level 3, but it is obvious to any rational person that cannot happen for as long as our trajectory is showing a spike in infections and deaths.

The EFF's Melikhaya Xego said: “The premier’s position on this issue is in sharp contrast with that of National Health Minister Zweli Mkhize when he visited the Western Cape recently.

Lockdown must end: Opposition parties slam RamaphosaOpposition parties have criticised President Cyril Ramaphosa over his address to the nation on Wednesday night. Are you an opposition party? These will be the same 'whithies' that would criticize Ramaphosa had there been a higher death toll and even do so if Ramaphosa ends the lockdown. There is no quick fix. The underprivileged are the one's who suffer either way. Walking the dog is more important 😡 When did this happen after his press briefing or before but you kept this story in case he doesn't deliver on your anticipated level 3?

DA, FF+ head to court to challenge lockdownGovernment is coming under fire from opposition parties for its lockdown regulations. Why thou? Whilst I agree that the economy should be protected people in the western cape are not adhering to any lock down laws, they are not even practicing social distancing. They are doing more tests but they are also the most disobedient province. Poor leadership! The RLF is calling upon the government to keep our Security Forces on our Streets until the next National General Election to deal with gangsters, criminal syndicates, murder, home & business robberies. Yes. Well done. For once DA and FF plus are headed in the right direction. Let's hope sanity will prevail.
