OPINIONISTA: Why I will vote for an ANC led by President Ramaphosa By Omry Makgoale

As we approach the general elections on Wednesday 8 May, we must acknowledge that the key issue in these elections is the accountability of future politicians in South Africa. The core of our problems lies in failed governance in the state and government institutions.

Only the ANC under President Ramaphosa can facilitate the reform of the parliamentary electoral laws to establish the individual accountability of politicians. This will ensure that Cabinet ministers, MPs and directors of state institutions are held strictly accountable. Wrongdoing by politicians and government officials will no longer be rewarded, but will lead to arrests, prosecutions and prison.

Under Mmusi Maimane, the Democratic Alliance in government would still be operating in the shadow of its white liberal past. With more than 60% of the candidates on their parliamentary lists being white, DA cannot transform our society when it has not transformed itself. It has not yet managed the need for transformation from its former white-controlled past to a non-racial and non-sexist future.

OPINIONISTA: The Economist’s unconscionable endorsement of the ANCThis is an open letter to The Economist, whose endorsement of Cyril Ramaphosa and the ANC in its leader article of 25 April 2019 called Ramaphosa an 'honest reformer'. The article ignores the reality in South Africa, and the fact that Ramaphosa’s fight against the deep-rooted corruption in the ruling party is, at best, tepid. helenzille jsteenhuisen Steenhuisen’s points strike home with bludgeon force. The Economist conveniently ignores the fact that Ramafailure is just the slightly more respectable face on the same rancid body of the anc ogre jsteenhuisen This must be the only country in the world where the ruling party, responsible for, and mired in corruption, is regarded as both saviour & perpetrator by its supporters as well as a significant part of the 'opposition': OnlyInMzansi! helenzille jsteenhuisen Hear hear!

Working together with our people we can bring about change. How was your trip to the Sudan? They’re also the only part that can corrupt the sh1t out of the holy bible.
