TUESDAY GUEST EDITORIAL: 30 people die by the gun every day in SA – it time to stop the violenceThirty people are shot and killed every day in South Africa. Guns are now the leading cause of murder in South Africa. It is essential that the perpetrators of violent crimes are prosecuted. However, this reactive response to crime must be accompanied by proactive up-stream action to reduce the availability of guns in South Africa. Crap. We need to remove the 'laws' that curtail your rights to effective self and property defense. The right to use lethal force for trespass and home invasions will put criminals on the back foot. The right to stand your ground, and to use lethal force will put thugs in place. 44 people are killed in road crashes everyday on SA roads - following the anti-gun logic, it is therefore essential that we immediately ban and remove cars fron our roads (and btw - remember that our courts have ruled that a vehicle is “a dangerous weapon”) Guns don’t kill people. People kill people… 🤦🏻‍♂️
