If current nominations are anything to go by, the next national executive committee of the ANC will see President Cyril Ramaphosa lose some of his key allies who have stood by him over the years.

These include Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan; former agriculture and land affairs minister Derek Hanekom; Employment and Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi; Health Minister Joe Phaahla; International Relations and Cooperation Minister Naledi Pandor; Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities Maite Nkoana-Mashabane; Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Ebrahim Patel; and the chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, Amos Masondo.
