Two KwaZulu-Natal nurses from Buxedene Clinic near Nongoma have been suspended, after allegedly failing to assist a mother shortly before she went into labour.

The mother subsequently gave birth to a baby boy in a minibus taxi, on the side of the road, with the assistance of the driver who had initially rushed her into the clinic.

When he stopped the taxi, Zulu said he could see the baby’s head crowning. The frantic woman then requested he try by any means to get her baby out. She birthed the baby in the taxi, after which Zulu placed the baby on the seat and asked the mother to ensure he wouldn’t fall. Kwazulu-Natal Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu welcomed the suspension of the nurses who turned the mother away.

Hero taxi driver helps KZN mom give birth in minibus, clinic probed for alleged misconductA KwaZulu-Natal taxi driver has been hailed as a 'hero' after he helped a pregnant woman give birth in his taxi on Wednesday. Texi driver did well. But why did you have to add that other negative news into this ? Couldn't you just separate into two articles so our brother can stand out? He is a hero. Heros are so few and far between that I think he should be rewarded.... Maybe with the salaries of the rude nurses who turned the mother away.
