Cape Town - The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa says it will write to the standing committee on public accounts against the South African Airways for failing to table audited financial statements.
Numsa general secretary Irvin Jim said on Saturday SAA must be held accountable for this behaviour and called on Scopa to act. National Treasury has injected R10.5 billion over the last few months to allow the airline to get back on its feet. Jim said the situation at SAA has reached unacceptable levels with workers left in the lurch after not being paid despite promises. He said workers at SAA Technical and Airchefs have not been paid because the parent company, SAA, has not submitted audited financial statements.
MkhulekoHlengwa is failing dismally at SCOPA. Last year he promised to hold SAA accountable for falling to provide their financials. On the eve of their appearance before SCOPA, they were conveniently placed under business rescue. R10bn later they still haven't provided any.
High interest costs on loans, volatile and fluctuating fuel price; currency volatility; insufficient revenue and cash generation in relation to operating cost; ageing fleet which is expensive to maintain. Who would sign those financial statements? Tsakani Maluleke won't😩
You wont see them. Since the days of Dudu have they ever published any statements, audited or unaudited?
