The public transport sector must come up with ways to reduce road fatalities, said North West transport management MEC Mpho Motlhabane.
“We, therefore, make an appeal to all taxi associations and taxi owners to come with ways and methods to assist us to reduce fatalities on poor roads. And further implant discipline to their members because taxi operators and bus companies must ensure safety of our people in this province,” he said. Motlhabane participated in a roadblock to inspect unroadworthy vehicles along the R510 road at the border of North West and Limpopo provinces. The road is notorious for horrific accidents throughout the year.
North West Premier Job Mokgoro, in his Easter message, called on people of the province to be patient and tolerant towards each other on the road.
