A special official funeral was held on Friday after he died at a medical facility in Klerksdorp on Monday after testing positive for Covid-19. The mother of three said she had accepted the passing of a man who she described as having a heart of “solid gold”, who had given her and their children wonderful memories over their years together.
“People of the North West and South Africa as a whole have lost an activist, a hero, a revolutionary, who worked up until his last breath to save lives,” the minister said. She added Kegakilwe and many other health workers had put their own lives on the line to serve the rest of the country.
