South Africa Headlines News

With alcohol sales unbanned on Sunday night, one might have expected a surge in people heading to liquor outlets to buy their booze. But it appeared that wasn't the case on Monday.

Licensed establishments will be permitted to sell alcohol for off-site consumption between Mondays and Thursdays.

“It was an interesting day. We had numbers, but not as [much] as the last time. We’re in the middle of getting stock on-site and displaying,” she said. “We weren’t able to pay our staff and we hope the Ters money will come through. If they can’t help us out, I’m not sure how long we will be able to stay open.”

Cause they buying on the black market. No tax for our dumbass government.

Ppl were just better prepared this time around.

People are tired of Rams games...😡😡😡😡

Because they were already drinking - long before the unbanning

We finally realised we can do without 🙈

People who had money and wanted booze were getting it. In KZN and certain parts of GP there has been plenty of booze available for ten days now, hasn't there?

This time alcohol was easily available on the black market and the dealers were not even trying to hide it...

Lol I noticed it was too dry we are recovering alcoholics.

Obviously there are no queues needed at the liquor stores because people are buying from their local spazas. Is Government really stupid enough to think that people are going to wait for them to say it is ok?

We looted enough

I don't remember the drinkers pleading with state to open alcohol sale, but the alcohol sellers were making noise and threatening to take state to court. alcohol is no longer in charge here, we are in control.

Not at all because there’s never an interruption on liquor sale😂

Thats bcos we're over it.

people are hungry they need good food to eat alcohol makes lot of businesses to function and create lot of employment opportunities

No one has money, or job. Trying to feed your family and keep the lights on is a struggle. The ANC is to thanks. We're all in this nightmare. LockdownSA ancMustFall

Imali ayikho🤷‍♂️

No money no buying power

That says it all. Demand not there as people have figured out how to get booze during lockdowns so are not dry yet, just as we did when cigarettes were ‘banned’. Aside from all the jobs lost as a result of these bans and the illegal market gains, the biggest loser is SARS.

No they already got what they wanted for free😜

It was weekend - braaivleis, rugby, sonneskyn and Olympics.

We have been drinking the whole 4 weeks plus it is a monday

NO money besides people have been buying it from elsewhere hence there was no excitement at the liquor stores.

Kanti u dom..akere people looted beer and besides black market was prepared this time..Alcohol was everwhere n cheap ..

They were hung over.

Citizens used to level 4, also recall the cheap underground sold liquor from lootings...

We were drinking. Our reserves are still in green .

Stores looted two weeks ago , there must be underground liquor stores creeping up

It is not end of the month yet Watch this upcoming weekend

many of these people got the drink somewhere else.. once they found where to buy it they will stay there.. that is the real damage to the economy.. normal people found where to get bootleg licor.

Even worse... now there’s no money for a few beers and a tot of sherry, in this cold

Words alone won’t express how thankful I’m recommending you all to you shantelll_142 .....,investing with you has been a good opportunity for me and my family I just received my profit of R30,500 within five days of investment shantelll_142

People where drinking moes. The only ban was in the media.

It’s a Monday mara. We’re not daily drinkers

Where is this money coming from
