No load shedding expected on Monday via SABCNewsOnline

is expected on Monday due to the planned return of four generation units, as well as adequate emergency reserves.

However, it has warned that the system remains constrained and vulnerable and that it may have to implement load shedding at short notice. “Boosted by the return of four generating units to service, Eskom does not expect to implement load shedding as it will have sufficient generating capacity. Over the weekend, the system held up very well. We did not have to implement load shedding. However, we do remind the people of South Africa that the system does remain vulnerable thus we may have to implement load shedding at short notice,” says Spokesperson, Sikonathi Mantshatsha.

The power utility has also reminded South Africans of the increased possibility of load shedding in the next 18 months.

Don’t blame students, blame the commodification of knowledge in South Africa | IOL NewsOPINION: As long as vice chancellors operate as CEOs of corporate companies and council members as board members, nothing will ever be fixed because their goal is to make profit out of poor students, says Sbonelo Radebe. Corporitisation of universities as problematic as it could be cannot justify unwanton destruction of assets. Ask SAA what happens when it doesn’t make a profit! In the real world , money doesn’t grow on trees and if you can’t make money to pay lecturers, lights and a library then what kind of education you will end up getting. The real question is why tertiary can’t be cheaper online I read this headline, and I realise we are so fucked as a country. If we can’t understand the basics of running a business or institution, that you need profit to improve and employ, we are finished.
