South Africa: Ramaphosa Apologizes for Bad Infrastructure, Then Experiences It By Bloomberg

On Sunday, he spoke to the national broadcaster on the sidelines of an election campaign appearance in the northern town of Mahikeng to say sorry for some of the most severe power cuts South Africans have yet experienced. The next day, he joined commuters on a 45-minute train trip to the capital, Pretoria. Unexplained delays meant that the trip lasted more than three hours and he was late for a meeting of the ruling party’s leadership.

It’s not an ideal situation for a man who is trying to convince voters to back his African National Congress in elections in May, when many of them already blame the party for the country’s inadequate public transport and failing power grid. Having already said that he plans to restructure the state power utility, Ramaphosa kept up his tough talk while stuck on the train.

Did he give any reasons for the bad infrastructure......like no accountability of management ?

Send him for a night to a public hospital.

Next on his list of experiences is a home invasion at 5 am by some hooded men, like the ones people experience on farms and small holdings to gain some sympathy and understanding.

Newsdeck: Ramaphosa approves SIU probes into NHLS and City of Johannesburg contractPresident Cyril Ramaphosa's drive to investigate allegations of corruption involving state owned entities and companies doing business with government continues, with the signing of two new proclamations authorising the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) to probe maladministration at the National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS), as well as a vehicle tender issued by the City of Johannesburg. Daily Maverick should investigate how much the SIU is paid for these investigations. I bet you if they can report how much the SIU is paid by government many people will almost shit their pants. It must be one if the few gjvernment agencies paying hefty bonuses. Then a commission of enquiry that will do squat once they find collusion and corruption.
