A new direct route to one of Europe’s largest airports is launching in South Africa in 2024.

Lufthansa – the second-largest airline in Europe and flag carrier of Germany – has announced it will open a new long-haul connection flight from South Africa to Munich, launching in June 2024.

This new connection to Munich will also allow passengers from South Africa to connect to 130 destinations, including Europe, America, Asia, and the Middle East, an appealing option for those wanting connection options from Europe. “Both year-round routes can also be combined and are priced at the same level. Passengers will find seats on a Boeing 7478 or an Airbus A350 with Lufthansa deploying one of its most popular and comfortable aircraft to show its commitment to South Africa,” said Matthias Lefevre, General Manager Sales Southern Africa, Lufthansa Group Airlines.

The group added that Munich, the capital of Bavaria, has 1.5 million inhabitants and is considered economically one of Germany’s most important cities and a major international business centre.
