In early June, EWN investigated the impact the COVID-19 lockdown has had on sports – and those who depend on it for a living.
Boeta Cassiem is one of those without work. He told EWN that he needed eye surgery to remove his cataracts but couldn’t afford it. South Africans and organisations from around the country came out in their numbers to support Cassiem, sending in donations, well-wishes and sharing their favourite memories of him.
