Mzansi, get ready for the farewell season of the long-running singing reality competition, Idols SA. And its all going down on July, in what Mzansi Magic it will be"one for the books".

Dubbed iLast Number, Mzansi Magic is promising the"most sensational season yet as the iconic talent search competition returns to your screens for its final installment". "Prepare to be dazzled and captivated as we bid farewell to a show that has shaped the music industry for two decades," it said on its website. In an exciting twist, for the first time in the competition's history, the farewell season will also be aired on Mzansi Wethu at 7.30pm in addition to the regular Mzansi Magic channel 161.

Over the past two decades, many had a chance to explore and diversity their talents through the show. To some, it opened many channels and to others it was a stumbling block to “the next big thing”. Some contestants have opened up about their disappointments and dissatisfaction with the show. Idols SA has also produced household names such as Khaya Mthethwa, Yanga Sobetwa, Lloyiso Gijana, Mmatema Gavu, Shekhinah Donnell, Brenden Ledwaba, and Amanda Antony popularly known as Amanda Black. Though some did not win, they managed to build careers from that stage while some winners pretty much disappeared into thin air.Last season saw SA Police Service counsellor, Thapelo Molomo crowned the winner and then signed by the Kalawa Jazmee Records. Molomo has since released a four-track EP.
