The department shut down two offices because they did not have a protective glass partition between staff and clients, but Motsoaledi says no office has partitions.

Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi will take the department of labour to court if it does not allow two offices in Gauteng to operate.

The PSA, in a statement released on Wednesday, said some Home Affairs offices did not comply with safety measures and in some cases, the full staff complement was instructed to come to work. The department of labour shut down two offices because they did not have a protective glass partition between staff and clients.

He added 5,000 face screens had arrived on Wednesday for staff, saying if they wore masks and gloves, as they were, the partitions were not necessary.“If we don’t get it right, we’ll certainly go to court.”

I don’t understand that a Minister may take another department to court! Where is the intergovernmental relations act to sort this matter? What is really going on here - same government at the same level! Where is the Deputy President and or the President?

Talk to them without wasting our money by using courts.

Seems Being a jerk is quite easy these days

This man Motsoaledi is mad. How can a government department take another department to court? It will not only be the first in South Africa but the whole wide world. HomeAffairsSA CyrilRamaphosa PresidencyZA MYANC

Well if a private company must put the shields before opening...what makes Home Affairs any different ? They work with 1000's of people! Government made the rules..so obey your own rules!

They both in government why threaten to take labour department to court instead of putting his department concerns to command council to consider opening their department. They are not at war I believe.

Kanti what're functions of Inter-governmental Relations?

Excuse me? It doesn’t take “months” to install protective screens. Why don’t you get in touch with PicknPay and ask them how they managed to do it in a few days. HomeAffairsSA AaronMotsoaledi
