JOHANNESBURG - The Ministry of Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities said it is working towards addressing the backlog of forensic investigations to help with prosecution of cases involving gender-based and sexual violence.South Africa currently only has two big national laboratories to conduct high-level testing, leading to a backlog in samples.
Shoki Tshabalala from the Ministry of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities said,"the backlog in that area requires partnership with government and private sector." "We are already in engagement...We will make sure the matter is actioned speedily as pronounced by the president in partnership with the private sector because as government alone we couldn't handle issue of backlog."
