🔒 Equities in the mining sector are up 30% this year, which has implications for wage negotiations.

New dawn: A pit head at Anglo American Platinum’s Tumela open-pit platinum mine in Thabazimbi. The company’s share price has risen 59% in the past six months.

All are being boosted by a relatively weak rand caused by uncertainty about trade agreements between the United States and China and sluggish investment in emerging markets, coupled with weak economic growth. Platinum group metals prices have seen the Impala Platinum share price rocket 93% over the past six months.
