The SAHRC held a preliminary hearing in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, to investigate if it should launch a full inquiry into medical aid schemes. This follows claims thatthat medical schemes are using coercion, unlawful investigations and other means to hold them ransom before they are paid out. Government Employees Medical Scheme principal officer Dr Gunvant Goolab said during their testimony:"There is no race recorded on Gem's systems … We receive the information from the Board of Healthcare [Funders of SA]."

French doctors say to end life support in right-to-die caseLambert, 42, has been in a vegetative state since a 2008 traffic accident, with the question of whether to continue keeping him alive artificially bitterly dividing his family and the nation. Let him go... Why did they put him on life support in the 1st place, they wanted to save him and they've succeeded.
