Tito Mboweni has confirmed that Maria Ramos is among those being considered as one of the frontrunners to lead the process of unbundling Eskom.

In January this year, Absa group announced that Ramos would retire as its CEO after being at the helm of the bank for 10 years. Before her time at Absa, Ramos was Transnet’s group CEO.

Among other things, the CRO would be responsible for overseeing Eskom’s finances, plant maintenance, and operational costs, as well as various strategic functions. Ramaphosa said at the time a combination of interventions is called for, such as a change to its structure, financial support from government and a turnaround plan from Eskom’s management, in order to bring stability to the state-owned power utility.

Mboweni was forced to write to Parliament earlier this month that he would invoke Section 16 of the Public Finance Management Act in order to secure funds for Eskom.

CRO functions is a mishmash of CEO/CFO/CTO functions and what will the incumbents be doing. This will be a recipe for disaster and conflict between CRO and Phakamani. Or is Phakamani on his way out and Maria coming in by the back door. Maria stay away from this..:

Allow Ramos to retire please.

Corrupt Candidates on the List

As long as Ramos is not appointed please tito_mboweni. It simply would not and should not pass the basics of the ethics committee reviews available. Conflict on interest is the key word. Thank you for reading.

ANALYSIS: Eskom, Maria Ramos and a big test for President Ramaphosa’s strengthIt can sometimes be forgotten, amid all of the election huff and puff, that the biggest test facing South Africa right now is electricity and Eskom. If its two related problems – the technical difficulties relating to power production and the financial implications of its incredible debt – are not solved, there’s a high chance of real disruption to society. It seems that those in charge of the problem are trying to get going with fixing it. Even if they hire the best possible people, they are likely to face incredible political blowback. StephenGrootes So where hve the unions gotten us....same place as incompetant and corrupt beneficiaries of patronage. Country can, like any country, only move fwd with competant individuals at the helm. Time 2 shut down the gravy train & do some proper work for all citizens StephenGrootes Senseless nonsense as all ways from StephenGrootes. Eskom must attract people with appropriate skills: Analyst - SABC News - Breaking news, special reports, world, business, sport coverage of all South African current events. Africa's news leader. The expertise of the retired Absa Group Chief Executive, Maria Ramos might be brought in to lead the process of unbundling Eskom into three components. Yes, South Africa, SKILLS NOT SKIN COLOUR! Just because your skin is a certain color doesn't automatically mean you can do the job! Wake up, you boneheads! Skills are there in Eskom they are just overlooked. This people with experience from elsewhere bring failure. People who understand the business will make better decisions. The once who left are overrated. Do you want to tell me out of over 40 000 employees there is no capability And what do they do with the thousands of people there now who have no skills😳😳
