Mbalula conveys condolences after deadly KZN crash eNCA

13 people have died in a crash involving a petrol tanker and a minibus near Pietermaritzburg. According to emergency officials, a pregnant woman is among the deceased.

PIETERMARITZBURG - Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula has conveyed his condolences to the families of 13 peopleThis as KwaZulu-Natal law enforcement officers are searching for a tipper truck driver who allegedly caused the deadly accident and fled the scene. Thirteen people, including a pregnant woman, died when a minibus taxi collided with a tanker truck in Wartburg, outside Pietermaritzburg.It's believed the tanker was trying to avoid the tipper truck, which reportedly didn't stop at a yield sign.Mbalula said the gruesome nature of the crash and the loss of life are devastating.

"We send our sincere condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in this incident and wish the injured a swift and full recovery."The crash also had an impact on traffic and it took over five hours to clear the road.We are horrified by this collision.
