The MyCiti bus route, which is still under construction, will serve commuters from Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain by connecting them to their workplaces in Claremont and Wynberg.

CAPE TOWN - Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis is expected to visit the city's R30 million MyCiTi bus route project under construction in Mitchell's Plain on Friday morning.

This comes after the project was targeted by the so-called"construction mafia" that allegedly demanded protection money from contractors at the construction site. The city noted that its contractors were continuously intimidated by extortionists, leading to undue delays in progress. It added that the route is expected to serve commuters from Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain by connecting them to their workplaces in Claremont and Wynberg.

The city also shared plans to interdict the continuous interference of the construction mafia syndicates in the Western Cape High Court this week.
