JOHANNESBURG , SOUTH AFRICA - MARCH 09: Cavin Johnson during the DStv Premiership match between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on March 09, 2024 in Johannesburg , South Africa.
While many critics are calling for a new coach, and the club itself is expected to appoint a new permanent mentor for next season, former Chiefs striker Edward Jabu Manqele believes it's not fair to always fault coaches and that players also need to shoulder the blame.Speaking in a one-on-one exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, the Randfontein based former South Africa striker observed that coaches should not be changed just for the sake of change.
"Also players need to take responsibility for their actions. I mean they are getting paid so they should deliver. Period. You should not just be happy to get your pay at the end of the month but then you don't deliver. That's not fair to the coach and to the club as a whole. It's time Chiefs' players pulled up their socks and show that they represent a big club like Kaizer Chiefs. Let's stop blaming only the coaches," Manqele observed.
