Khumalo said her father had been taken to the hospital on Friday night complaining about a tight chest. She said he had told the nurses that he was feeling cold, but they said there was nothing they could do.
A new tent that was erected at Northdale Hospital and will be used as a flu clinic for screening patients for Covid-19.A team from the University of KwaZulu-Natal has also since been tasked with investigating the matter and is expected to produce a report with recommendations by Friday. "They were even informed that if they could not identify the relevant section within the hospital … because some of our hospitals have spatial challenges … They could take money from their budgets and set up a temporary structure in order to ensure that there’s space to put in patients," said Simelane-Zulu.
