Durban - A 55-year-old man who posted a video about Covid-19 testing kits possibly being contaminated, is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.Peters said the man was arrested by members of the Parow SAPS.
"The arrest relates to a video disseminated through various social media platforms purporting contamination of Covid-19 test kits. The suspect has been charged in terms of Regulation 11 of the Disaster Management Act, in relation to "publishing any statement through any medium including social media with the intention to deceive any other person about measures by the government to address Covid-19," Peters said.
In the video, which went viral over the weekend, the man is seen with an earbud lodged up one of his nostrils. He then claims that the government is using possibly contaminated testing kits to test people for Covid-19. He further warns residents not to be tested. "They are going to stick a swab deep up your nose and into your mouth to take a swab to see whether you have the virus. Do not, under any circumstances allow them to test you. There is a possibility that the swabs are contaminated with Covid-19," the man claimed.
TheMercurySA I hope this guy gets himself a fucken good lawyer and show the flames. .
TheMercurySA I swear!
TheMercurySA Please post an SABS certificate that proves inspection tests were done and declared safe for use to the people... but until then its not fake news because the state will be failing to prove the guy he's wrong...
TheMercurySA His face isn't shown. His name isn't mentioned. Is he white?
TheMercurySA
TheMercurySA There are no grounds to hold this man because in the video he acknowledges that he might be wrong and he's prepared to apologise...
TheMercurySA Report on the court case as well. Take the pics.
TheMercurySA What bullshit !!
mithisa_motho TheMercurySA Scaring tactic
TheMercurySA The way this corona is being protected, I wonder what it has on our leaders🤣🤣🤣
TheMercurySA He's only guilty for wanting to make sure South Africans receive clean test kits
TheMercurySA Thank Goodness
TheMercurySA Strange how the wheels of justice turns in 🇿🇦 for some quicker than for others....for this guy..immediately.....for corrupt politicians....for eternity.....clearly 🇿🇦 is an animal farm where some are more equal than others
TheMercurySA Don't lai to us we want photos of him in court
TheMercurySA It is going to backfire for sure. There is no case there. Didn't he mention a UK newspaper which stated that those kits were infected? Didn't he base his suspicion on that newspaper article? Now how can he be arrested for him being concerned? I am also concerned.
TheMercurySA If he reasonably believed 2hat he was posting then it's not something illegal and a waste of time it needs to be shown it was malicious. This may backfire and make people believe there is a conspiracy
