Bernardo Silva has been one of the main protagonists in City’s success in recent years, and this was perhaps illustrated in the club's reluctance to let the Portuguese playmaker go for a cut-price during the latest transfer window.
The 29-year-old is rumoured to be still keen on a move to the Camp Nou, and while he may have signed a one-year extension at the Etihad this past off-season, he made sure to have a £50 million release clause inserted into his new deal that only the reigning LALIGA champions are able to trigger. Barca president Joan Laporta made it known that Silva was a desired target for the Spanish club, but with the five-time European champions still navigating their way out of their unstable financial situation, they were unable to meet City's valuation of the attacker.
The same report claims that the Premier League title holders had placed a £100 million price tag on the Lisboa native, but that figure has now reportedly been slashed in half should the Blaugrana decide to sign him in future. The abovementioned Spanish publication also suggested that the same is true for RB Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo.
