President Cyril Ramaphosa will lead an imbizo in various parts of Sedibeng on Friday to assess service delivery in the Gauteng municipality. eNCA's Aviwe Mtila has more details.That's the word from the province's premier, David Makhura.
Makhura, alongside President Cyril Ramaphosa and other senior government officials, held an imbizo earlier.Makhura says national government must intervene in reviving and rebuilding the district. He's also raised concern about the rate of unemployment in the area, saying it's the highest in the province."This economy of the Vaal which is the leader of industrialisation of Gauteng, is now no longer where it used to be.
"The economy of the Vaal is in serious trouble and we need national government, not just the province but the national government to help us revive, rebuild, what we call economic regeneration of the Vaal," Makhura said. "Unemployment rate in Sedibeng is 64 percent, it is the highest unemployment rate in Gauteng. So this economy of the Vaal needs decisive regeneration and decisive intervention."
