Proteas left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj is a living, breathing example of someone who began with foibles in his make-up and ironed them out to the extent that he is literally the best version of himself.

The most remarkable thing about Keshav Maharaj's storied career as a Proteas cricketer is that it probably shouldn't have happened. Growing up, Maharaj's prospects didn't exactly scream"likeliest to become a Protea". This is according to former Dolphins Academy teammate Brady Barends, who told the cricket blog Chadwick Drive:"At the Academy he was like third or fourth choice, no one thought he was going to make it. But his commitment and dedication to improvement were on a different level. This guy did not stop bowling, he was always bowling and bowling.
