Liverpool's Premier League title credentials face a stiff test at a resurgent Tottenham on Saturday as the Reds aim to keep pace with relentless leaders Manchester City.

Defending champions City have taken maximum points from their opening six games and can set a new club record should they extend that streak to seven at struggling Wolves.

The Australian has shrugged off the loss of Harry Kane to transform the mood at the north London giants. "I always wanted to be a manager. I was a massive Liverpool fan. I loved Bill Shankly. I loved the boot room stories," he told the BBC. The most visible evidence of his persona has come in his team's determination to embrace his bold desire to play out from defence with bravery and precision.

"We are like brothers together and we have to do this for each other. We fight for each other. He is building that."
