Liverpool have now been strongly criticised for their 'dangerous' statement aimed at the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) following their controversial match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool's statement in response to the PGMOL has been labelled as "vague and aggressive" by Manchester United legend Gary Neville.

Following the drama surrounding Luis Diaz's disallowed goal in the Reds' 2-1 loss to Spurs over the weekend, the Merseyside club released a statement in which they expressed their dismay at the decision made by match officials. After the match, the PGMOL publicly admitted that a"significant human error" had been made, but the club later deemed the decision"unacceptable".

"That such failings have already been categorised as 'significant human error' is also unacceptable. Any and all outcomes should be established only by the review and with full transparency."
