Regulations governing the sale of alcohol during the lockdown, including limited trading hours, will endanger lives, says the South African Liquor Traders Association.

A cashier sits in front of a closed alcohol section in a Johannesburg Pick n Pay on Monday. The organisation representing owners or operators of more than 1,400 retail and wholesale liquor stores, employing more than 14,000 people, believes the regulations governing the sale of alcohol when level 3 comes into effect are impractical and will lead to higher Covid-19 infections.

The South African Liquor Traders Association has submitted a detailed plan to the government outlining protocols to maintain and ensure social distancing. It offers a formula to manage the volumes of booze that customers will be allowed to buy. It does not believe it will be possible to meet the objectives of the Disaster Management Act and operate within the designated hours announced by trade and industry minister Ebrahim Patel.

Liquor outlets were supposed to be opened from the 19th so that the will be ordere not month end

My first two beers I'll drink it in the cold room coz I won't pay for it

Ok then, lets keep them closed

It may be ideal to use ordering and collections to control the numbers and the chaos that is anticipated. The regulations must give the maximum orders per day, as per capacity of each store

Did Beke do this research?

Wait for the first three weeks then go after that

Yes most likely because they will allow liquor stores to open only one hour a day to the public - like the 3 hour per day exercise that they have put in place currently

your bosses are pressuring you to spread these rumors of level 3, it must be stressful shame

Should rather just ban it completely. We don't need that.
