Government ineptitude has led to a situation where 5 years after the structure was opened, villagers are still struggling to draw water from De Hoop Dam

Several times a day, 53-year-old Dinalane Maota from the Sekhukhune district of Limpopo, carries a drum to her next door neighbour’s yard to buy water.“Every morning we go to the neighbors with borehole water taps and pay R2 for a 25 Liter container. We buy water to bath, to wash clothes and cook.

”Mostly rural, the area is water-scarce with a history of droughts and scanty rainfall. With a whopping R3.5-billion price tag, it was officially opened byBut, in the past 5 years, government has failed to build infrastructure that would get the water from the dam to the villages. For more on this story watch eNCA’s current affairs programme, Checkpoint,

But they voted ANC? And will again... and again...

While their son of the dust boss is living in luxury 🤣

Is not sekhukhune only in my hood is R3 per 25litre very painful cause water is life

What must we do now they voted ANC moes Close to 80%

De voted them

Is there an option to have water tanks installed? If yes, is there a crowdfunding campaign I can donate to?

lavitosoul The elections were just three months ago 🙄🙄🙄🙄They must not bore us

Where's the Fighters?

Funny thing is that , because it's in Limpopo isn't not considered a crisis

Well it's your Government you voted for

This is unacceptable. Please get the incompetent people out of our municipalities!

Only in Limp Popo.

I am also a victim here in malamulele

We've been buying water since forever

They don't listen and learn.

Demand yo 23 million debt from zimbabwe. And solve your crisis

Results of hiring general workers to work as water procesd controllers instead of hiring the rght ons

Dats wat happens wen u give ANC an overwhelming majority🤣🤣

We been buying water for years in limpopo

While soweto ppl got free electricity

Wait, so you guys are saying they deserve this because they voted for MYANC ? whom did you want them to put their faith on EFFSouthAfrica or Our_DA ? Stop this foolishness guys

Proudly brought to u by ANC

Proudly brought to them by ANC

Let them buy that's what they voted for

Let people in Limpopo suffer, 75% voted and they will do it again in 2021

This ain't new to me been buying water since the 90tis, Most of my Bolobedu people still buy water some still fetch it from the river

Where

Vote nog CNA, goed so!!!!🙄

What is unfair here is that structures constructed by competent contractors at market prices are still standing and working, while those constructed at above cost and market prices are dysfunctional in their shoddy work.Borehole at R190K is working, one at R780-1.2M is not working

They voted eff/anc so enjoy suffering

This is the real reason ... was fired but ke ...

This is so wrong on many levels. These people were so hopeful to have a basic necessity & then it was just left...too much work to actually complete the job.

This is not on. Not now, not ever!

Goverment...what is happening!? I don't have words!!! 😡

We are the forgotten in Limpopo. .. We can't even outvote the ANC because all the elders vote for ANC

the ANC are going to blame god

Who cares? They've voted!!!

I'm from limpopo. It's not a new thing. It has been going on and on. For years. I don't know if it will ever change

The EFF whisky account could pay for water for a year.

Yet they talk big and dream big MYANC people need water

ANC accomplices so what do they expect?

So much for the vainglorious constitution that the ANC claimed was their contribution. Access to water is one of the items on the Bill of Rights. Also one of the looming disasters

This is a story of official incompetence, corruption & impunity which is tragically, all too common throughout Africa, and seems to have taken root in SouthAfrica as well, as the ANC follows the well-worn path trod by other LiberationOrganisations!

Must b e a good thing for them. Water is far more important than food. Even alcohol

This is the consequence of Limpopo's deeply-embedded CultureOfCorruption: The ANC has NO political will to hold its ANCDeployees to account, instead, leaving the poor to bear the burden left by the incompetence & callousness of its officials! Yet voters continue to vote ANC!

In Sekhukhune under Makhuduthamaga municipality they only delivers water when there is funerals or weddings

Africa is cursed

At Ga-Mphahlele where Stanley Chupu Mathabatha the premier come from we still don't have running water. We buy from people who have boreholes and their water is salty. ChupuMathabatha

Even in Gauteng we buy water the government doesn't do his job😏

Forced to buy water but elec true city is free must be a balancing act

Limpopo has always been “day zero”!

Where is bigmouth, son of the dust now? Why is he not threatening the mayor to do his job? Too busy avoiding responsibilities & preaching hate...

Kakisa ANC

They must buy water or continue sharing with animals since they love the ANC that doesn't deliver, eventually their heads will start functioning better

We have bee buying water since early 90s, the only reliable sources of water are our boreholes since there's vast mining in the area the water depletes or is polluted while De Hoop is overflowing.

We are also poor and forced to buy water here in Diepsloot😣

Well, Africans deserve whatever crisis they are going through at the moment. They vote along ethnicity and race lines. They always vote for corruption and incompetent. They must suffer!

Serves them right, reiterated their stance in the elections this year.

“officially opened by former president Jacob Zuma, just before the 2014 general elections.” That’s my favorite line in the article 😂😂😂

This phenomenon of the poor buying water is all over. NW, NC, FS and MP also suffers the same fate. This is despite there being running municipalities and piped water infrastructure in these affected areas. Reservoirs are empty and taps are forever dry. This is absurd!

But hey over 80% of votes go to the ANC with every election.

Which is the majority governing party there

Well they did vote for this 😟ANC

They voted for this.
