The charges emanate from a brutal attack that took place in the early hours of July 28, 2019.
“The 20-year-old victim and her male cousin were walking home when Sibiya drove into them with his taxi,” said Sello. In her victim impact statement, the woman said she has become withdrawn since the incident and started to drink excessively over weekends. She has developed a shorter temper and gets angry easily.“I was admitted to hospital for two months. I still have pains in my body,” she stated.
Her cousin said in his victim impact statement that the incident affected him physically and emotionally.The SAPS in Gauteng remains resolute in fighting the scourge of crime against women, children and vulnerable persons, said the provincial commissioner of police in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela.
