The controversial General Intelligence Laws Amendment Bill is among of a raft of legislation making its way to President Cyril Ramaphosa after it was passed on the final sitting of the sixth Parliament 's National Council of Provinces .
On Monday, the NCOP's ad hoc committee processing the Bill considered making two minor changes despite several concerns and recommendations on how to improve the Bill. It decided against providing for a deputy Inspector-General of Intelligence – a widely supported proposal after the committee requested public comment on it. However, the move would require the Bill to be sent back to the National Assembly, which would then have to embark on another round of public consultation. South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
