Liberians Want Officials Accused By U.S. of Graft Axed Liberia

A day after the U.S Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control designated three top officials of the George Weah led administration for involvement in ongoing public corruption, the Executive Mansion says President hasReports say the President continues to be bombarded by calls from several institutions and citizens, urging him to sack the three officials. The latest to join in making the request is the National Civil Society Council of Liberia .

However, the Council called on President Weah to take some concrete steps beyond the suspension to save the image of the government from this embarrassment and ensure public trust by dismissing, prosecuting, and confiscating of ill-acquired properties or wealth and barring of said officials from participating in political affairs and governance of the state.FrontPageAfrica, 17 August 2022

U.S. Sanctions Senior Liberian Government OfficialsThe U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has designated Liberian government officials Nathaniel McGill, Sayma Syrenius Cephus, and Bill Twehway for their involvement in ongoing public corruption.
