Some industries will open but the tobacco ban remains in place, contradicting the president’s earlier remarks

on Wednesday night at a briefing on the revised regulations for level four, the move to which was announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa last week.Dlamini-Zuma, speaking on behalf of the national command council, said that although the government had announced the plan to lift the tobacco ban last week, it had made it clear that the revised regulations were subject to consultation both within government and with the public.

Dlamini-Zuma said that despite the effect of cigarettes themselves, the government believed that the sharing of tobacco undermined physical distancing and actually encouraged the spread of the virus. Children who are co-parented will now be allowed to move between the parents, while people who needed to move between provinces to return to work will be given a once-off opportunity to move from province to province.

“It is a once-off movement. Once you are in that province there is no commuting until the end of level four,” Dlamini-Zuma said. Dlamini-Zuma said workers should return to their jobs in a phased manner and according to a plan that was known by both staff and management in every company that began operating again.

Who owns the tobacco farms? Who wants them to go under and buy them cheap? Where does the illegal cigarettes come from?

Very dangerous precident to set. The president announces one thing to the country but something else turns out to be the actual fact when communicated by a minister? People will stop trusting what the president says

Jacob zuma’s anc wins again. Cyril is too weak.

Follow the money trail... who benefits from this move? Illegal trade was never so profitable. Who is alleged to trade illegally? Some family business... Clever thing would be to donate all tobacco tax revenue to the covid relief fund from May1.

So was CyrilRamaphosa then spreading fakenews in his media briefing?

In one small statement Dlamini-Zuma has undone all the goodwill demonstrated by South Africans in Level five

How does she get to overule the President?

The President has lost control. His Min are telling him how they will run things. This is a bad suing. This battle must go to court.

This is too much.

THE PEOPLE SHALL GOVERN!✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✋🏿✋🏿✋🏿

khadijapatel Yeah she lost the bid for presidency so why not over rule the real president. Mind you who's presidenting anyway?

They reviewed that decision, yohhh fake news

Ramaphosa earlier decision was made through pressure and lobbying by those who gave money in 2017.

Sorry mr President you can not be trusted, the African National Covid 19 Looters are in charge and they abuse the civil rights of all citizens in this country, eg food parcels, God Stella got BMW for breaking lock-down laws, Politician B&B outbreak no arrest

Wonderful

I wonder what will happen if one is found selling cigarettes. If I didn't listen to NDZ today and just following what CR said last week.

We all know who the real president is.

Those were not remarks.they were regulations god dammit!!!!fvk CyrilRamaphosa PresidencyZA EFFSouthAfrica

The Cigarette irony is glaring When cigarette advertising was banned in SA, disqualifying Rothmans from sponsoring football in SA, NDZ was Min of Health

WTF

Treacherous power struggle move that will undermine CyrilRamaphosa credibility as our President if it is not fixed

CyrilRamaphosa is a puppet to the MYANC faction
