Public enterprises minister is wrong to blame business rescue practitioners for being unfair to employees

I read with jaw-dropping astonishment public enterprises minister Pravin Gordhan’s accusations against the SAA business rescue practitioners who were appointed to resolve the shocking state of affairs at the airline.

Was it fair to the employees when successive management teams ran the once proud SAA into the ground and stripped it of all its financial resources through corrupt practices? Was it fair to the country when, despite ample evidence of gross negligence and, yes, nefarious motivations, that the same ANC Gordhan represents kept the likes of Myeni at the helm of SAA?

Is it fair on employees and the public that not one person has been brought to account for these criminal acts? Does Gordhan consider that fair? It is not! Not in any way, shape or form. And yet he dares stand up and accuse the business rescue practitioners, who have been involved only for the past few months, of not being able to “rescue” a broken institution that has been brought to its knees over more than 15 years of unconscionable mismanagement. There is nothing left to rescue.

Close that blood sucking tic down or privatize it and see how well it will work. The ANC will never privatize it for the reason that proper educated people will run it and they will just look like bigger idiots cos it will be run well will no looting from goverment officials!!!!

ZilleTweets Um..but we already know this right?!😳🤔🙄🤦🏻‍♂️😡🤬

errolbsk It doesn't look all too bleak for the airline's worth to be afforded another lifeline. Honestly, inefficiency within the airline's that riddle it's capabilities can still be stripped down through decisive turnaround plan. Impossibility doesn't exist in some others vocabulary.

jvnaidoo1 Bury SAA. This airline deserves nothing. I would prefer international airlines any day. SAA always loses money. Etihad, British airways or emirates any day. I'm sure we can strike a deal with another airline... Instead of paying 'clevaboi' to up his grades in school.

This is why ancMustFall they steal our money and put it in their pockets.

Useless ANC killing our economy and stealing our money.

SAA has been swirling around the bowl for way too long, throwing more and more money without ever fixing the underlying problems.... close SAA down now! Put the taxpayers money to better use, like feeding the poor!

watu68550651 Jamnandaz must fall he's determined to sell South Africa to London and his friends this must be treason. He must resign because he can't execute his duties he doesn't have the knowledge of running SOEs he must be removed jamnandazmustfall

Exept maybe dudus asshole?

I saw this coming but his strategy won't work, they destroyed the airline and now he wants to play a hero and shift the blame to the BRP, his organisation must take responsibility for the mess and let SAA go. Taxpayers money can not continue to be wasted on this entity anymore.

So can we close SAA now, there are not many tax payers left for any more support

I am somewhat disappointed in Pravin... What's with the U-turn on SAA? 🤔 This airline is a joke, nay, an embarrassment... Kill it, now...

Shut it down!!!! SAA is 1 of the State owned that must close it's doors!!!

Thanks to Pravin

Put the MYANC in charge of the Sahara desert and in 5 years there will be no sand left either.

Jeez...are you that desperate to ensure the 36 free flights ?

Thank goodness someone in this inefficient government see's that close it and stop waisting tax payers money.

rinmor Politicians hate the idea of losing their freebies and will have to fork out from their pockets for flights to and from parly. Jacob and family might have to catch a taxi too.............

rinmor Billions spent to tell us that they can do nothing about it ?

Interesting times guys

markjhannigan I wonder what the white man is going to terrorize next, Mandela should have never given the country to us on a silver platter, we are just too corrupt and money hungry. Just look at what we did to SAA, SABC, TELKOM, DENEL and everything else! Give it all to the competent blacks!

There is lots to rescue. The planes, the first class lounge, the fancy cars, the jobs... Pravin will fix it this time.

I’m a Pravin supporter but as you say, let’s lay blame where it should properly be laid. Dirty politicians, corrupt directors and management for as long as I can remember. It probably all started with the American and just got worse after that.

So let’s move on

When the likes of Richard Branson is closing Virgin and Emirates laying off staff, there’s no one that will come in and rescue a failing company let alone get into the aviation business during this time.

If Gordhan & the unions want to save SAA they must go find a private buyer & leave public funds out of it.

Gordhan fought tooth & nail for SAA to be sold just a few years ago. It is now apparent that this was driven by his hatred for Zuma & Myeni .. suddenly he believes SAA can be saved.. tito_mboweni must not give in into this crazy plan to waste our money

PG has finally delivered on the WMC mandate and practitioners can take a fall for it
