Letta Mbulu, Caiphus Semenya get lifetime achievement awards via SABCNewsOnline

National Heritage Council CEO advocate Sonwabile Mancotywa says songs that Semenya and Mbulu have composed promoted pride in one’s heritage.

Mancotywa says, “Letta Mbulu and Caiphus Semenya have been in this industry for more than 64 years and their music cuts across. We are saying these awards are very important awards because they respond to most of the challenges that we are facing and it’s quite exciting. I hope this award can grow and the private sector comes in and supports them because they are the only awards that speak who we are, that speak with the soul of the nation.

Portia Semenya received the awards on behalf of the musicians. “We feel honoured and blessed by the heritage foundation and the people who voted for us for the recognition and bestowed by this prominent lifetime achievement award. We will stray to live up to it values and principles. As African we always define culture as survival time plate given to us by our ancestors.”
