Lesotho's PM Thomas Thabane unexpectedly deployed the army Maseru against unnamed 'rogue national elements' he said wanted to destabilise the country.

Maseru, Lesotho - Lesotho's prime minister Thomas Thabane unexpectedly deployed the army in the capital Maseru on Saturday against unnamed "rogue national elements" he said wanted to destabilise the southern African country.

Lesotho, which is completely surrounded by South Africa, has experienced several coups since gaining independence from Britain in 1966. On Friday, the mountain kingdom's Constitutional Court said Thabane's decision to prorogue parliament ostensibly over coronavirus fears was "irrational".

Lesotho PM deploys army to 'restore peace and order'Lesotho's embattled prime minister on Saturday announced he had deployed the military onto the streets to 'restore order' saying some law enforcement institutions, which he did not name, were undermining democracy. Basotho don't see how court ruling not in PM'S favour put the nation at risk! Soo sick and tired of politicians games!! Worrying if true, especially given that our border with our neighbor is closed. Hoping human rights are upheld and protected. Where will Basotho seek refuge if necessary?

COVID-19: Hunger stalks virus-ridden streets from SA to the USAFood banks around the US are reporting increases of up to 500% in the number of people being supplied with food since the first Covid-19 infections were reported in that country. This is not the USA, but it doesn't seem to matter because a large number of World Leaders are singing from the same 'hymn' sheet. Common sense and logical precautions would have dealt with this pandemic. Instead, an economic catastrophe of unknown magnitude is in the making.
