South Africa’s Chad le Clos has booked a spot in the final of the 100m freestyle at the World Short Course Championships in Abu Dhabi

After grabbing a bronze medal on the opening day, Le Clos finished fourth in the heat in a time of 50.47. He went on to win the semi-final, claiming the race in a much speedier 49.56.

The 29-year-old finished just four hundredths of a second ahead of 19-year-old Egyptian, Youssef Ramadan.Another South African swimmer in Abu Dhabi is Tayla Lovemore. She's set to get her Championships campaign under way on Saturday morning in the heats of the 50m butterfly.

I worry about swimmers getting clots while competing like footballers. They will need to be quick to get them out of the water. Or are swimmers exempt from the spike?
