Mchunu asks national government to declare state of disaster in KZN after floods

DURBAN – KwaZulu-Natal Premier Willies Mchunu on Monday asked national government for assistance and for it to declare a provincial state of disaster.

Speaking at a media briefing in Durban, Mchunu said the damage in eThekwini alone was estimated at R685 million. Mchunu said eThekwini suffered the highest number of fatalities. Sixty-four of the people who died lived in the municipality. The other six people were from the Ugu District Municipality. To assist those affected, Mchunu said government “distributed humanitarian support in the form of food, blankets, mattresses and other key necessities” at various temporary shelters in the province.

KZN government offers help to collapsed churchKZN Premier, Willies Mchunu, says the provincial government will assist with the burial of those who died at the Pentecostal Holiness Church last Thursday. Churches don't pay Tax and they make a lot of money so why is the government using Tax payers money to help a Church that makes a lot of money? Can they help the residents that have lost their houses first? The reason the ANC KZN government is helping is little more than a vote buying gesture. They have no ethics or morals these thieves.
