[TRENDING] KZN dealing with being SA's new COVID-19 epicentre

KwaZulu-Natal is now the epicentre of South Africa's COVID-19 infections. KZN Health Department, Sandile Tshabalala spoke with eNCA's Gareth Edwards. Courtesy ofJust over 4,000 cases were recorded in the province in the last 24 hours.The KwaZulu-Natal Health Department says a number of worrying factors have contributed to this surge.

"From 15 [December] we've been seeing more than 5,000 cases per day," KZN Health Department head Sandile Tshabalala said."Contributors are behaviour regarding masks, people working from outside KZN come back with behavior and people coming on holiday. "We are encouraging people to test and get admitted and let them be responsible in all activities in making sure we reduce the speed omicron is spreading."
