DURBAN - The KwaZulu-Natal African National Congress has applauded the controversial actions of its provincial chairperson, Siboniso Duma, during the King Dinuzulu commemoration on Saturday, saying he prevented anarchy.
The KZN ANC addressed journalists on the incident on Wednesday, claiming that Duma actually prevented what would have been bloodshed. The party is alleging that Buthelezi was not meant to talk politics during the programme, especially in his traditional position.And while the party has apologised for the controversy, it remains adamant that Duma acted in a rightful way, alleging that Buthelezi was the one who played politics by mentioning the ANC when speaking at the event.
Provincial secretary, Bheki Mtolo:"He had to chose between allowing anarchy to thrive or doing something that is unthinkable to prevent chaos, and we applaud him for choosing what was best for the people and the event to be a success."
