Koekemoer was granted R1 000 bail when he briefly appearance in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on charges of common assault and malicious damage to property.
Phindi Louw-Mjonodwane, the National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, confirmed that Koekemoer was arrested in relation to a case opened by Katsande, who now applies his trade at newly promoted Limpopo outfit Sekhukhune United.The case was postponed to September 29 for further investigation. City Press reported last week that according to Katsande’s statement to the police, the altercation in Roodepoort on August 21, was sparked by Koekemoer who allegedly showed Katsande the “middle figure” while driving.“A white male came out of his vehicle and hit me with his fists on my head. He also break my right window and right side mirror on my vehicle. He hit my vehicle with his foot on the side. The total value of the damage is R50 000,” read the statement.
Katsande, who was left bloodied, told City Press that he would respond to our inquiry at a later stage as he was busy at work. The defensive midfielder spent 10 years playing for Chiefs and was released before the start of the new DStv Premiership season last month.
