Kaizer Chiefs have been scared off Stanley Nwabali's R30 Million price tag and are now looking at an alternative that will cost them nothing!

Kaizer Chiefs are still keen on signing Salim Magoola from Richards Bay but they face competition from SuperSport.Chiefs were reportedly interested in signing Nigeria and Chippa goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali. However, the 27-year-old, who was a standout performer at Afcon with the Super Eagles, would fetch a transfer fee of over R35 Million. According to, Amakhosi are looking at the potential free transfer of Richards Bay keeper Salim Magoola.

“SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs are amongst the sides mulling over Salim Magoola. He could be available on a free transfer. Chiefs are looking to add an experienced stopper to their squad with Itumeleng Khune poised to retire. Magoola who has emerged as one of the leading performers in the league alongside Ronwen Williams and Stanley Nwabali has naturally attracted interest from Amakhosi” they said.

Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. expressed his excitement about this development by saying:

“We are very excited to be able to conclude this contract extension. Mfundo is an exceptional talent and we are looking forward to seeing him showcase his God-given technical ability with the senior team for many years to come. It’s now all about the hard work for the young man and we know he will do his best.

“Mfundo’s promotion is a testament to the great work in our development structures. We have built an environment that is conducive to producing talent for the senior team, which is fundamental to the ethos of Kaizer Chiefs. We have some hard-working people – from under-13 to the reserve side – who do not focus purely on winning but mainly on producing top footballers for the senior team.”
