Data shows a strong correlation between social stability and economic growth, and rioting and looting could become more prevalent in the next few years

The country is reeling from a week of deadly riots and looting last month that erupted in the eastern KwaZulu-Natal province and the commercial hub of Gauteng after the jailing of former president Jacob Zuma. The violence reflects an economy that has been “stagnant for more than a decade,” said Gerbrandt van Heerden, an analyst at the think-tank. “A lot of the unrest that SA has experienced this year and before are connected to a failing state.”

The government has formally adopted five blueprints to boost GDP and job creation since the ANC won the first all-race elections 27 years ago. However, most of the policies have been stalled by powerful vested interests and policy paralysis, which left SA’s economy stuck in its longest downward cycle since World War 2, even before the coronavirus pandemic hit output.

Well then until we get rid of the ANC it’s going to be rough because the ANC are incapable of reform

'growth-enhancing structural reforms'!! What the fuck ever!!

Speed up what reform? The only ‘reform’ on the cards is Land theft Pension theft Business theft Healthcare theft Election theft Gun theft Freedom theft Have I missed something?

“What reform” people need jobs and the opportunity to feed themselves and families. We need a government that can deliver a future for our children.
